5 Strategies for Time and Cost Efficient Healthy Living
Health Living and Wellness [Guest Post by Sheila Olson] ?
This is an article for anyone that might struggle financially or even for anyone that is all too often pushed for time with a heavy workload and having to commute. Within this post, you will find 5 Time and Cost Efficient Strategies To Improve Health and Boost Fitness.
For all the obstacles that you feel you might appear to have, this information should show you that there is a workaround and you really can use this to make a difference.
I will begin here with my first point which is about exercise. Let me know what you think about this at the end in the comments section –
Hopefully this tip and these 5 others
1.) Exercise Consistently
Being physically active is one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself. Exercise provides numerous benefits, such as improved cardiovascular health, stronger bones and muscles, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, strengthened immunity, better focus, and more energy.
To increase your odds of exercising consistently, search for an activity you enjoy. As long as you find a sport that elevates your heart rate and motivates you to work out, it doesn’t really matter whether you jog, cycle, weightlift, or dance.
Also, you can forgo an expensive gym membership by working out at home.
Not only is this cost-efficient healthy living, but it also saves you time and provides you with enough flexibility to fit your workout routine into your busy schedule. You really need not worry about how much time you have to spare;
Effective ideas include:
- Waking up earlier to sneak in a quick walk or run
- Setting hourly movement reminders on your phone
- Eating at your desk and using your lunch hour to exercise
- Taking the stairs instead of the elevator
- Electing to walk to your destination rather than drive
- Doing bodyweight exercises while watching television or listening to a podcast
- Carving out a few minutes before bedtime for a relaxing stretch or yoga flow
2.) Improve Your Diet
The type of foods you consume can also impact your health. For better and for worse but in terms of cost-efficient healthy living the good news is that it neither expensive has to be expensive nor time-consuming to eat right.
In fact, avoiding restaurant food by preparing your own nutritious meals and eating at home can save you time, money, and effort. It really is a win-win situation.
For best results, your diet should include fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats. Keep in mind that the less processing your food has undergone, the healthier it will be.
So, avoid the processed food aisles at the grocery store, and instead, fill your cart with whole and minimally-altered foods.
3.) Drink More Water
Another strategy to add to the list for time and cost-effective healthy living and wellness is drinking more water.
Making a better effort at staying hydrated helps with many things.
Including all of the following;
- weight control,
- facilitates digestion,
- alleviates constipation,
- treats urinary tract infections,
- boosts energy, and
- improves mental functions, such as memory, focus, and cognition,
Plus what’s more, water is something you don’t really need to pay for. I mean you can but you don’t have to.
Aim to drink 2.7 litres of water daily if you are a woman and 3.7 litres if you are a man.
Also, consider investing in a reusable water bottle to make hydration more accessible and convenient.
I personally am a bit fussy here. Either bottled water or boiled water is my preference as I don’t trust my tap water at home. Although perhaps one idea for anyone in this predicament is to invest in some water testing strips.
These can be used to test the quality of your home or work water supply. You can definitely save a ton of money here if it is just a matter of putting your mind at ease. Although if I’m being really honest the best thing I think you can do water-wise is to invest in a decent water purifier. These are cost-effective in the long term but initially, they can be expensive.
Hydration is very important though and it should be something that everyone that wants to stay healthy maintains.
4.) Connect With Nature
Spending time with nature can improve your sleep, lower your stress, reduce depression, and increase your energy levels.
To really reap the rewards, consider:
- Welcoming in sunlight by replacing curtains with sheers
- Bringing real plants and flowers into your home
- Planting a garden of vegetables and flowers in your yard
- Getting outdoors as often as possible
This really is a no-brainer. Go for a long bike ride, go for a run even take a walk through the woods. Being stuck indoors all the time is not healthy. According to some data an estimated 1 billion people [1/7 of the world’s population roughly] have either Vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency. This is from not getting enough sunlight.
Vitamin D is very important for a number of things including Calcium and Magnesium absorption. Many people struggle with joint pain and things like fatigue and muscle weakness purely for this fact.
5.) Start a Meditation Practice
If you know about meditation then you know that it is good for you. This is definitely cost-effective healthy living.
It’s easy to understand why meditation is gaining in popularity with so many people.
There are many reported health benefits but one that is clear is its effect on mental health.
By providing yourself with the chance to centre yourself, direct your thoughts to the present moment, and find your inner peace you are effectively helping to rid your mind and body of stress. You are also practising healthy breathing patterns and helping to influence more positive thinking.
