Is it totally new and intriguing for you to learn more?

Let’s dive in and see how we feel at the end.

Mind Over Matter for Weight Loss

1# – What The Research Suggests…

If you can think positively about doing something.  Whatever it is, then you can apply this train of thought.  More so, if you plan it out that far in advance then the more likely you are to succeed.

For example, if you wish to become fitter.  You plan out a routine of daily and weekly exercise.  Then you are more likely to succeed than a person who doesn’t plan at all.

If you decide to give up Alcohol and plan it out you will succeed easier.

Or, If you decide to give up smoking etc. you get the idea.

This is what the research concludes.  Do you agree so far, or would you like to know more?

I shall continue…

2# – How We Make Ourselves Feel

So, this is solely based on my own opinion.  Something that works for me.  Especially when I’m looking at things in a positive way.  All the time I find the world is an easier place to live.

About 4 years ago I started to practice feeling grateful for everything.  At night before I went to sleep I had a mantra I would repeat every night.

It went something like;  “I am good, I am great and I am grateful for the good things I have”.

All the time I practised.  It became quite a consistent habit, and it really helped.

Then for a few months, I stopped practising and things started to go wrong.  Like you would not believe, and this affected my health amongst other things.  I started putting on weight and feeling down.

I soon got back on track though once I realised the difference it made.  So, I repeated the mantra again every night.  Since then everything has got better, and up till now, I’m still doing this every night before I sleep.

I also have started to say it during the day if I felt it was starting to go wrong.

I’ve also noticed that my Depression is something that has not come back at all and this is another reason I have not stopped doing this ritual.

3# – What Could Your Mantra Be?

So, if you think of the Lord’s Prayer it could be like this.  You can thank God, or Allah, or whoever.  Maybe say thanks to the Universe; for your wonderful husband, wife, or partner.   For your beautiful children, our adorable grandchildren.  The roof over our head, the jobs that pay for your holidays and the food on the table.  Anything you are grateful for.

It is an amazing concept and it can be applied to healthy living as well.  If you want to lose weight, or even if you want to succeed in business.

Some people find this an odd thing to do but it certainly works for me.

I am not sure what people would think if they heard me but you don’t have to say it out loud.  However, you feel most comfortable.

I certainly do believe this and it makes me a more appreciative person.  When I pay it forward more and it comes back in spades…

Mind Over Matter for Weight Loss and Healthy Living!”

Your Health Matters.

Everybody has many choices in life.  If you want to be healthy on the whole I believe the majority can achieve this.  It is a mind over matter choice.  Obviously, I know there are terminally ill people who are not expected to make it, but sometimes they beat the odds and live.

My belief is it’s all down to the mental attitude of the sufferer.  If you give up its game over.

The more positive you are the more will go right for you in life including your health.

If, you Look around at people who are constantly negative.  Those that are always moaning they never seem to enjoy very much about life.  It at all really is very sad.

I know a lot of people like that and I strive not to be like them. Also, I try to change them in subtle ways.

Have you looked and spoken to people in their 80s and 90s?  They all seem to have a few things in common; An amazing sense of humour.  Always laughing, and very grateful to be alive.  Happy to be contributing to society.  Being a big part of the family.  Enjoying their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

People who are less happy still live to those ages but they get no enjoyment.   I know how I would rather spend the remainder of my years.

Why Health is Important!

quotes for mind over matter

At the end of the day, your health is very important.  Although, how you deal with it is down to you.  Yes maybe you have certain medical conditions but so do others.  People that don’t let it control them and dictate their lives.

Don’t make excuses, make changes.

Try to always look at the positive side of life.  You wake up every day so start off being grateful for that and expand it over time.  You’ll see positive things happening in every aspect of your life.  You will certainly feel happier if you let yourself.

I suffer from, fibromyalgia, depression, carpal tunnel, osteoarthritis and I have had 75% of my thyroid removed. These issues do not control me because I think positively and get on with my life.  I could just sit back and let these conditions take over and make me very miserable, but I don’t.

My Conclusion

I agree 100% with the research.  Believe you can make a difference.  Make a plan of how you will achieve it. Then put the steps into action.

What have you got to lose?

Your mind is yours to control.  However, you see fit.  It is possible to change anything about how you think that you want to.  This also includes how it affects your health.

Try these rituals out that I mentioned above.  You may be surprised at the outcome.

Make up your own mantra or copy mine.  It works if you stick at it.  Do it slowly to start with till you see things begin to change. Say it as many times in a day if you wish to.

Success in anything is down to you, nobody else can do it for you.

Believe in yourself.

  1. Hi Lisa,
I agree 100% with you! Our mind is ours to control. I think it really is important to view things on the bright sight. Say, for example, I had an accident. Instead of being angry or blaming myself for breaking the car, I should have to be grateful for not breaking any bones in my body, or that at least I don’t get hurt at all, it’s only the car that is broken.
Thank you again for sharing your story. I don’t say mantra but I pray at night before I go to bed. I guess that’s a kind of the same. 🙂

    • Hi Ferra,
That is totally right, it’s only a car. You are far more important.
Keep looking for the silver lining in everything.
      I will keep being grateful.
Thank you very much for your comments and for reading.
      Stay safe. ?

  2. Lisa, that is a great mantra. Life is nothing but a bunch of choices. We get what we choose. Some people live in a victim mentality and since that is his or her choice, they will always be a victim and there is nothing you can do to change his or her mind… only they can do that for themselves. Doesn’t mean you can’t point out some good things to them every now and then?
I am glad to meet someone else on the same path. So glad we both took the right at the fork in the road a few steps back.

  3. Lisa, I really enjoyed reading this article and I have filed away the sections that apply to me for future reference. I too believe that we can speak things into existence. You can chose to be happy even when things are not going exactly as you would like them to! That Mantra of yours is what I call a prayer. Being thankful makes us better human beings.

  4. Very good advice! I thank God every night for all of the blessings I’ve been given and I thank Him every morning for allowing me to awaken. I suffer from fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety and a few other conditions but I try not to let it get me down. I have to admit though that this quarantine is testing me. It’s not that I like to be out often, I prefer my solitude but I don’t like being TOLD that I have to stay home. Best of luck to you!

I feel the same about not being able to go out. I’m really missing our children and grandchildren. We have been in lockdown for 6 weeks and have 3 more weeks to go.
      Stay safe and well.
      Keep being blessed.

  5. I like your article and totally agree that it can all be in the mindset. Sometimes it can be difficult to alter your feelings, especially with depression. But it has been shown with numerous people that having a positive mindset creates a happy life. Your mind can do amazing things if you allow it to.

  7. Hi Lisa, and thanks for this awesome post!
You’re so right when it comes to being positive and controlling your own thoughts. You’re in charge of your attitude, no one else.
Sure, it’s easy to blame everyone else if you’re miserable, but what does that get you? Nothing! Just more misery, lol.
I truly believe that the joy you maintain in life is actively keeping you healthier.
I’m thankful to my Lord for all that I have, and I’m reminded of that every day as we stay healthy during this Covid-19 trial.
    Blessings,

  8. Great post Lisa.
Most of the people focus only on health and ignore the mind. They don’t know that there is a connection between these two.
Keeping mind healthy is also equally important, especially during this lockdown period,

  9. You are absolutely correct. I used to be a “negative Nellie” until I worked with an awesome lady who was always positive. She taught me to try to look at the bright side of things and before I knew it a lot of my negativity disappeared. I pray every night and my prayer is very similar to your mantra. I am thankful for all of the blessings I’ve been given and for the opportunity to start a new day trying to become a better me. Thank you for sharing your wonderful article. I’m sure it will help many people.

    • Hey Lisa, I understand about being negative, I used to be the same way myself. I got into things with the law of Attraction and the more I learned the more positive I became and things really changed for the better.
      Helping others feels good.
Stay safe in these troubled times

    • I totally agree Tom, our mindset needs to be kept in check and predominantly in the positive position. When that is in alignment our body is in a better place.
I appreciate your sharing it to people who will get benefits from it.

  12. Thanks a lot for sharing this article with us. I’m practising this philosophy for some time now, and the results are amazing. What helps me to control my mind and direct it toward desired goals the most is visualization coupled with gratitude. I practice this at least once a day every day and my life has never been better. Thanks again for sharing these ideas, and keep up the good work here!
