Can Magnesium Help Dissolve Kidney Stones?  This has been something I’ve really been wondering about recently.  In a video on Youtube I was watching it was saying about how Magnesium helps convert Vitamin D. into its active form which helps increase Calcium absorption and reduce Calcium deposits.

If Calcium is not correctly utilized in the body then it can cause a build-up of excessive alkaline.  One of the kidney’s main functions is to balance acid and alkaline in the body.  When Calcium is not absorbed like it should be (likely because of either Magnesium or Vitamin D deficiency) this can cause these deposits to form into kidney stones.

According to the video by Dr. Eric Berg for Calcium (which we need to communicate between cells) for it to be absorbed, we need both Vitamin D3 (in its active form) and Vitamin K2 as well as an acidic stomach.

Magnesium is vital for converting Vitamin D3 into its active form which helps absorb Calcium – BUT can taking mg. in supplement form actually help dissolve kidney stones after they have already formed?

*I have been taking Magnesium for a while now.  Really I should take it more but what I do is take 2 capsules a day with a glass of water before dinner.  This apparently is good because you ingest it will food.  The results I think are pretty clear – when you stop taking you do notice it.

Mostly, because It can help dissolve existing stones and prevent the formation of new ones.
